Please join us on October 18th when Kristin Weaver, The Northern Trust Company and Ray Koenig, Clark Hill will discuss Disabled Persons: Planning For and Implementation of Special Needs Trusts and Guardianship.

A growing disabled population requires planning for special needs as well as meeting disabled person's needs who may not have planned ahead. Creating a plan that will assist a family member who cannot provide for himself/herself should accomplish the preservation of governmental benefits eligibility, the enhancement of the person's life by supplementing governmental benefits, and meeting the ward's wishes for ultimate distribution of assets.  In the absence of a plan, addressing the disabled person's needs through guardianship provides much needed protection. We will discuss when and why planners and families should consider establishing guardianships and/or special needs trusts.
